Ask for applicable guidance
Provide the exact product reference and describe the intended finishing step. Ask what care or pressing information is available for that material and its decoration. Do not borrow a temperature from a different product or assume a cotton component establishes the correct treatment for the whole assembly.
Reserve a trial sample
Agree which sample may be used and retain an untouched comparison. Ask the maker to record the proposed equipment, protection and process under the applicable guidance. Keep the trial separate from the bulk order so an uncertain method is not first attempted on material already allocated to customers.
Explore the productsReview more than flatness
Compare the trial and reference for visible colour, surface, motif shape and the intended garment outline. Check both faces and the planned layers. A flatter appearance alone does not establish that the treatment is suitable or that a raised decoration has retained the desired form.
Save the approved conditions
Keep the result, maker's notes and any unresolved questions with the order. Confirm whether the method applies to this combination only. A change of lining, trim or decoration can require another review; an informal trial is not a general care certification.
A practical comparison
| Stage | Record | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Guidance | Exact reference and available instructions | Is a trial appropriate? |
| Trial | Designated sample and maker's process | Conditions are traceable |
| Review | Untouched comparison and observations | Accept, revise or leave open |
Your buying checklist
- Ask for product-specific guidance
- Keep an untouched reference
- Review both faces and layers
- Record the approved trial conditions
